Kids In The KitchenScrumptious Snowmen TreatsBy Belinda MooneyHave some wintertime fun and with these easy to make recipes you can have snowmen, and snow, year round! Snowman in a Cup is perfect for dessert and Marshmallow Snowbuddies make great party favors. All of the recipes make wonderful after school snacks. NOWBALLSIngredients:
Place coconut in a shallow bowl. Remove ice cream from freezer and thaw at room temperature for about 10 minutes. Peel carton from ice cream. With a knife, cut ice cream in half and then in fourths, making 8 slices. Quickly shape each slice into a ball and roll in coconut. Place Snowballs on a tray. Freeze until very hard. On day of serving, place individual serving bowls in freezer to chill. At serving time, remove bowls from freezer. Place about 2 tablespoons Chocolate Sauce in bottom of each bowl. Remove Snowballs from freezer. Place one Snowball in each frosty bowl. Place a small candle in each. Light candles and serve with a sprig of holly if desired. Makes 8 Snowballs. What you do:Melt the chocolate bar in the microwave 15 seconds at a time until soft. Using your paint brush, paint eyes, nose and mouth on the inside of the glass. Put the glass in the refrigerator so the chocolate can harden. Mix the ice cream, vanilla and milk together in a blender. Pour into the glasses. Add ribbon or yarn to the base of the glass for a scarf. Enjoy your snowman. PHILADELPHIA SNOWMAN COOKIESIngredients:
Mix cream cheese, sugar, butter and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add flour and baking soda; mix well. Shape dough into 1/2-inch and 1-inch diameter balls. Using 1 small and 1 large ball for each snowman, place balls, slightly overlapping, on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten to 1/4-inch thickness with bottom of glass dipped in additional flour. Repeat with remaining dough. Bake at 325 degrees F for 19 to 21 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Sprinkle each snowman with sifted powdered sugar. Warm your tortillas slightly in the microwave so you can fold them. Next fold the tortilla into half, then half again. Cut out designs just like you were making a paper snowflake. Put a small amount of oil into a skillet. Fry the tortilla until crisp. About 30 seconds on each side. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. SNOWFLAKE KABOBSIngredients:
On each coffee stirrer put mini marshmallows and pieces of fruit. Push the coffee stick into the large marshmallow to resemble a snowflake. Sprinkle with coconut.
