From the Heart
Autumn is here.
School classes and
activities are well
underway. The days are
shorter and the air is crisp,
like the fresh local apples.
We will celebrate Halloween
and Thanksgiving and in
this issue we have a great Halloween safety
tips poem. It is a perfect time to listen for The
Legend on the radio. The Dogman was cre-
ated by a local man named Steve Cook. Here
is a stanza,” In ‘57 a man of the cloth found
claw marks on an old church door. The news-
paper said they’d been made by a dog... He’d
a’ had to stood seven foot – four.” You can go
to www..michigan-dogman.com to check out
the rest. Happy Spooky Halloween!
This issue is also our annual maternity and
baby issue so stories and advertising address
this. There is a humorous story from a dad
about diapering his baby. Also check out the
column sharing the most popular baby names
according to the social security department.
Coming to Traverse City in October is a
mother baby film festival and we have infor-
mation about that in this issue as well. We
have some adoption stories too.
A recent new addition to our family is
an exchange student from Germany. He is
a senior attending Suttons Bay High School
where he is a band member and is on the
Cross Country team. It is nice to be able to
provide him with the opportunity to experi-
ence life in the United States. We will get to
experience a German Holiday Tradition (Dec.
6) Nikolaus Day. We put our shoes (boots are
better) by the door to be filled with treats. I
wonder who will fill them.
Thanks for reading!
